On January 14, 2026, the “CourseGPT Workshop” was held for faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with OpenAI, the Artificial Intelligence Competency Unit, and the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT). As part of this event, participants had the opportunity to develop their own AI assistants similar to CourseGPT using OpenAI’s infrastructure, and to explore the potential of artificial intelligence in personalizing the learning experience and designing interactive educational activities.
The aim of the workshop was announced as strengthening faculty members’ competencies in designing AI assistants tailored to their own course contexts, structuring them in line with ethical principles, planning in-class use scenarios, and carrying out quality assurance processes. During the training, faculty members first gained theoretical knowledge and then learned, through hands-on practice, how to customize CourseGPT. In this way, the workshop emphasized how AI-supported learning tools can be used pedagogically effectively in medical education. When used appropriately, artificial intelligence will continue to be positioned as a tool that supports physicians’ decision-making processes, deepens learning, and strengthens medical education.
